To remove the EMU from a disk shelf, complete the following steps.

Put on the antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash.

Shut down the storage engine by entering the following command at the console:
halt
Caution
Always use the halt command to perform a clean shutdown.

Verify that the LCD display at the front of the storage engine displays the following message:
Halted
|

Turn off the power and unplug both power cables to the disk shelf.
|
|
5 |
At the rear of the disk shelf, loosen the two thumbscrews on the left and right side of the EMU.
|
|
6 |
Using both hands, carefully remove the EMU from the back side of the disk shelf and place it on a nonconductive/antistatic surface.
