Required tools, equipment, and documentation

Equipment you should receive  

In addition to this guide, your R150 contains the following components:

• One storage engine and bezel
• Nine disk shelves for 24 TB systems, or 5 disk shelves for 12 TB systems
• 42U storage equipment cabinet, or rack mounting hardware and installation kit for the storage engine and disk shelves.
• A DB-9 to DB-9 straight-through serial cable and a DB-9 to RJ-45 adapter for an ASCII terminal connection
• SCSI cables for connecting the storage engine to the disk shelves
• A disposable antistatic grounding leash
• User manuals
• Shelf and storage engine power cables
• Cabinet power cable sets with IEC or NEMA plugs (for systems sold with a storage cabinet)

Required tools and equipment  

To install the R150 components in an equipment rack, you need the following tools and equipment:

• Phillips screwdrivers (#0, #1, and #2)
• #10-32 steel screws for fastening the storage engine to the rack
• Antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash

  Caution
  The R150 uses electronic components that are sensitive to static electricity. Static discharge from your clothing or other fixtures around you can damage these components. Always wear an antistatic wrist strap and attach the grounding leash so that you are appropriately grounded before touching any electronic components.

Required configuration equipment  

To configure your system, you need the following equipment on site:

• ASCII terminal (also referred to as an ANSI terminal)
• Serial console
• Communications server
• Null modem cable (optional if the DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable for an ASCII terminal connection is not compatible with your terminal connector.)
