Installation rules and restrictions

Observe the following rules and restrictions when installing an R150:

You must wear an antistatic wrist strap when you handle electronic equipment.
You must work with two other people when installing the storage engine.
WARNING
The storage engine is extremely heavy. Three people are required to install the storage engine when both power supplies are installed. Two people are required to install the disk shelves safely into a rack or NetApp® System Cabinet.

Observe the following rules when arranging the components in a rack for an R150:

The R150 storage engine supports either 5 or 9 disk shelves.
A 24 TB R150 is designed to be arranged in the equipment rack with five disk shelves on the bottom, followed by the storage engine, followed by four disk shelves installed above the storage engine. For a 12 TB R150, no disk shelves are installed above the storage engine.
Only install the number of disk shelves supported by your storage engine. Go to the System Configuration Guide at http://now.netapp.com to determine the current storage limit for your model.
