In a single system cabinet, the storage shelves in an R200 system are divided into two loops. Half of the disk shelves belong to one loop and are mounted below the storage engine. The other half of the disk shelves belong to the second loop and are mounted above the storage engine.
To install the disk shelf in a mid-mount configuration in a two-post rack, complete the following steps, using the illustration for reference.
WARNING
You must install the disk shelf tray from the rack mount kit. The disk shelf and storage engine ears are not designed to hold the weight of the disk shelf or storage engine. The disk shelf and storage engine will collapse from the rack under its own weight without the disk shelf tray supporting it.
| 1 | While grounded, install the first disk shelf tray for the bottom loop at the bottom of the rack, as described in the accompanying kit flyer. |
| 2 | Select two holes in the middle of each side of the disk shelf to which you want to attach the brackets and secure the brackets with the #10 Phillips head screws. |
| 3 | Repeat Step 2 for the bracket on the other side of the disk shelf, then slide the disk shelf onto the disk shelf tray. |
| 4 | Align the holes on the rack to the holes on the bracket and secure the disk shelf to the rack with the mounting screws. |
| 5 | Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining disk shelves in the bottom loop. |
| 6 | Install the storage engine, as described in Installing the R200 storage engine. |
| 7 | Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for all the disk shelves in the loop above the storage engine. Note |
