Preface

About this guide  Top

This guide describes how to use a NetApp® storage appliance as a Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) target in a SCSI storage network. Specifically, this guide describes how to calculate the size of volumes containing LUNs, how to create and manage LUNs and initiator groups (igroups), and how to monitor FCP traffic. This guide assumes you have completed the following tasks to install, set up, and configure your storage appliance:

Audience  Top

This guide is for system and storage administrators who are familiar with operating systems, such as Windows® 2000 and UNIX®, that run on the hosts that access storage managed by NetApp storage appliances. It also assumes that you know how block access protocols are used for block sharing or transfers. This guide doesn't cover basic system or network administration topics, such as IP addressing, routing, and network topology.
