The description of a filer appears in the Comment field when you browse the network. Initially, the filer has no description. Adding an informative description enables you to distinguish your filer from other computers on the network.
The description can be up to 48 characters.
To change the filer description from Server Manager, complete the following steps.
| 1 | Select your filer from Server Manager; right-click and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. |

To display and change the description of a filer from the command line, complete the following steps.
| 1 | Enter the following command to display the current description: cifs comment |
| 2 | Enter the following command to change the description: cifs comment "description" |
