Description and location of Data ONTAP documents

Documentation for Data ONTAP includes a release description, setup and upgrade guides, a number of system administration guides for various aspects of administering NetApp storage appliances, and a comprehensive command reference.

The documents are available on the NetApp on the Web (NOW) site. Click Documentation on the home page, then click Data ONTAP on the Access Documentation page to see links to the latest version of the documentation.

The following table describes the information in each document.

Software Setup Guide	Describes how to set up Data ONTAP software on NetApp storage appliances.
Upgrade Guide	Describes how to upgrade to the latest version of Data ONTAP software and presents information you need to consider before upgrading your software or reverting it to an earlier version.
Storage Management Guide	Describes how to configure, operate, and manage Network Appliance storage appliances with Data ONTAP.
File Access Management Guide	Describes filer operations and how to manage file access for the NFS, CIFS, HTTP, FTP, WebDAV, and DAFS protocols.
Block Access Management Guide for FCP	Describes how to configure and manage the FCP protocol, and how to create and manage LUNs and initiator groups, with the optional FCP license.

Documentation for FilerView and DataFabric Manager

FilerView, the graphical user interface you can use instead of the command-line interface to manage your filer, has Help built in. DataFabric Manager, an optional software program for managing multiple NetApp appliances, comes with an administrator's guide and a command reference as well as built-in Help.
