Turning quotas on or off

About turning quotas on or off

You can turn quotas on or off for one volume at a time. You cannot enter one command for turning quotas on or off for all volumes.

To turn quotas on, you must meet the following prerequisites:

If the /etc/quotas file contains user quotas that use Windows IDs as targets, CIFS must be running.
All UNIX and Windows names listed in the Quota Target field of the /etc/quotas file must be valid. For example, if the file contains a misspelled user name, Data ONTAP cannot complete quota initialization and turn on quotas.

To turn on quotas, complete the following step.

To turn quotas off, complete the following step.

1	Enter the following command: quota off volume Example The following example turns off quotas on a volume named cad: quota off cad

To cancel a quota on command, follow this step.

1	Enter the following command: quota off volume Result The `quota` `off` command cancels the `quota on` command and stops quota initialization.
