Turning quota message logging on or off

About turning quota message logging on or off  Top

You can turn quota message logging on or off for a volume or for all volumes. You can optionally specify a time interval during which quota messages will not be logged.

Turning quota message logging on  Top

To turn quota message logging on, complete the following step.

Step

Action

1

Enter the following command:

quota logmsg on [ interval ] [ -v vol | all ]

interval is the time period during which quota message logging is disabled. The interval is a number followed by d, h or m for days, hours, and minutes, respectively. Quota messages are logged at the end of each interval. If no interval is specified, Data ONTAP logs quota messages every 60 minutes. For continuous logging, specify 0 for the interval.

Use -v vol to specify a volume name.

Use all to apply the interval to all volumes in the filer.

Note
If you specify a short interval, less than five minutes, quota messages might not be logged exactly at the specified interval rate because Data ONTAP buffers quota messages before logging them.
