Reasons to omit Windows NT ACLs

You can omit Windows NT ACLs (access control lists) from a backup. This provides a slight performance enhancement. You omit Windows NT ACLs in two situations:

You plan to restore to a volume that will be used in a UNIX environment or to a pre-5.1 version of Data ONTAP.
You are backing up no files or directories that contain Windows NT ACLs.

Omitting Windows NT ACLs

To omit Windows NT ACLs from a backup, complete the following step.

1	Include the `A` option in the `dump` command line. Note This option does not take an argument.
