How to move a vFiler

When to use this section  Top

Use this section if you want to move a vFiler (that is, the data and the vFiler configuration) from one NetApp appliance to another, for example from a filer that is overloaded to one that has spare capacity, or from an old filer to a new one. This is sometimes called "migrating" a vFiler.

The procedures assume that you want to destroy the original vFiler once the new vFiler is up and running. If you want to leave the original vFiler intact and create a backup copy of it for disaster-recovery purposes, use the procedures listed under How to create and activate a disaster-recovery vFiler instead.

What to do  Top
