The filer requires a software license to enable the SnapManager SQL (SMS) service.
Network Appliance provides you with the appropriate license codes when shipping you your filer or software from the factory, or when giving you instructions for obtaining the software over the Internet.
In addition to installing the SnapManager SQL license, the following requirements must be met in order to run SnapManager.
SnapDrive must be licensed and configured for the filer.
The filer must have either the VLD or FCP license enabled, depending on which protocol you are using for your virtual disks.
SnapRestore must be licensed on the filer.
SnapMirror (if SnapMirror is used, a license is required on both the source and the target appliances).
