Example

Assume the following entry exists in the /etc/httpd.hostprefixes file:

/customer www.customer.com 192.225.37.102

If the HTTP server receives an HTTP request that is destined for one of its virtual host IP addresses, in this example, 192.225.37.102, the destination IP address is used to select the virtual host root directory /customer.

Additionally, an HTTP request with an HTTP host header specifying www.customer.com is directed to the /customer directory.

In either of these cases, the requestor cannot access a file outside the /customer directory.
