Setting a volume as root

You can set a different volume as the root volume; however, you can only have one volume as the root of a filer.

Note: A volume must be on-line to make it the root volume. You can either make the volume on-line or click Set as root, in which case a dialog box is displayed asking if you want to take the volume on-line and then make it the root volume.

To set a volume to be the root volume for the filer, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Set as Root for the volume you want to make as root for the filer.

If the volume is off-line, a dialog box is displayed asking if you want to make the volume on-line and then make it the root volume.

  2. Click OK to make the volume on-line and make the volume the root.

Result: A confirmation box is displayed, prompting Do you really want to change the root volume to <volumename>?

  3. Click OK to confirm making this volume the root volume.

  4. Click Back to return to the Manage Volumes window.
