The Configure Snapshots page enables you to modify the snapshot schedule.
Each filer volume and aggregate can retain up to 255 snapshots. When you create a new volume or aggregate on a filer, the new volume or aggregate inherits the snapshot schedule from the root volume. After several days, check how much disk space the snapshots consume. If the disk space seems high, you can decrease the amount of time that snapshots are kept or increase the snapshot reserve. As you use snapshots, continue to watch the statistics change over time. The statistics help you gain a better understanding of how snapshots work.
Note: Network Appliance does not recommend that you use scheduled snapshots to replicate LUNs on a regular basis, because multiple LUNs from different hosts can exist on the same WAFL volume. For more information on LUNs, see the Block Access Management Guides for FCP and iSCSI.
