Installing Data ONTAP Software

About this chapter  

This chapter provides you with the information you need to install Data ONTAP software on the gateway.

Installation overview  

Installing Data ONTAP software is a three-step process:

1. Installing licenses on the gateway.

   Note
   You must install the gateway storage system license and an NFS or a CIFS license before you can install the Data ONTAP software on a gFiler.

2. Installing system files from the Data ONTAP CD-ROM on a UNIX or Windows host.

   The Data ONTAP CD-ROM is part of the Data ONTAP media kit.

3. Downloading the system files to the gateway.

Prerequisite to installing Data ONTAP  

Before you start the installation process described in this chapter, ensure that you completed the procedures in Chapter 3, Providing Setup Information.
