About the gFiler neighborhood

A gFiler neighborhood allows multiple stand-alone gateways or clustered gateways (multiple host groups) to share ports and thus LUN access on your storage subsystem. You arrange your neighborhood through LUN ownership in Data ONTAP.

Note
A gFiler neighborhood can support different gFiler series gateway models; however, GF270c gateways cannot be mixed with other gFiler models in a gFiler neighborhood.

Guidelines for arranging your gFiler neighborhood

When arranging your gFiler neighborhood, you must adhere to the following guidelines:

Zone switch ports that connect to your gateway HBAs so that each gFiler in the neighborhood can access each other's LUNs.
Set the access control on your storage subsystem so that the gFiler gateways can access each other's LUNs.
