About this guide

This guide introduces you to the NetApp gFiler gateway for Data ONTAP^TM 6.5.3. It provides an overview of the tasks required to set up a gFiler, and provides configuration guidelines and sample configurations.

Audience

This guide is for users who are familiar with operating systems, such as UNIX®, Windows® 95, Windows NT®, Windows 2000, and Windows XP and who will be installing gFiler gateways. This guide does not discuss basic system or network administration topics, such as IP addressing, routing, and network topology; it emphasizes the characteristics of the NetApp® gFiler.
