Types of configurations

You can connect your gFiler to your storage subsystem in the following configurations:

Direct-attached stand-alone
Direct-attached cluster
Switch-attached stand-alone
Switch-attached cluster
MetroCluster

Connection to multiple storage subsystems

Multiple storage subsystems can connect to a stand-alone or clustered gFiler if the storage subsystems are within the same series. Multiple gFilers can connect to the same storage subsystem.

Planning your configuration

You must devise a port-to-port connectivity scheme after selecting the configuration you plan to deploy. For recommended port-to-port connectivity schemes for each configuration type and for each gFiler model, go to Chapter 3, Recommended Configurations.
