Adding LUNs

When to add LUNs  Top

You add LUNs (called volumes on the IBM storage subsystem UI) for your gateway after you create the dummy host on the storage subsystem. You can use the dummy host to create more LUNs for your gateway.

To map LUNs to the actual gFiler gateway, follow the procedure described in Chapter 4, Modifying LUNs on your storage subsystem.

Caution
You must always add LUNs to the dummy host. The gFiler gateway cannot recognize LUNs while they are being formatted by the storage subsystem. Adding LUNs to the actual gFiler gateway using the Add Volumes option can cause data corruption.
