gFiler reversion issues and procedures--6.5.1 to 6.5x

About this section  Top

Use the information and procedures in this section if you want to revert your gFiler from Data ONTAP 6.5.1 to 6.5 or 6.5Rx.

About reverting from 6.5.1 to 6.5 or 6.5Rx  Top

Features introduced in Data ONTAP 6.5--SnapMover, SyncMirror, and MetroCluster--are not affected by a reversion from 6.5.1 to 6.5 (or 6.5Rx). Therefore, you do not have to disable them before you revert a gFiler to 6.5 (or 6.5Rx).

If you installed 6.5.1 on a cluster, you can revert just one of the cluster partners to 6.5 (or 6.5Rx) if desired. You cannot, however, revert one cluster member to a Data ONTAP version prior to 6.5.

Reverting from 6.5.1 to 6.5 or 6.5.x for a single node gFiler  Top

To revert to an earlier 6.5 version of Data ONTAP when a gFiler is not a member of a cluster, complete the following steps.

Step

Action

1

Obtain the system files from the CD-ROM or from the NOW Web site, as described in Chapter 3, Upgrading Data ONTAP on the gFiler.

2

Transfer the system files onto the gFiler using either the UNIX NFS or Windows method described in Installing Data ONTAP system files.

3

From the console prompt, enter the following command:

download

4

Enter the following command:

reboot
