If you are using switches between the gateway and the storage subsystem and you are reverting to is a release prior to Data ONTAP 6.5, you need to set the initiators-per-port environment variable. The variable can be set to 2 or 4, depending on the number of port-to-port connections there are going into a switch from the gateway or gateway cluster.
To set the initiators-per-port environment variable, complete the following step.

Enter the following command at the console: setenv initiators-per-port x x is the number of connections from the gateway to switches and can be either 2 or 4. |
