About the installation of system files

The procedure for installing system files depends on where you are installing the files from.

Note
After installing the system files, you need to install boot data onto the gFiler and perform additional steps so that the gFiler and the storage subsystems can operate together.

Note
If the latest Data ONTAP upgrades are available on an HTTP server, you can download and install Data ONTAP to your gFiler without having to mount the gFiler to a UNIX administration host or map a drive to the gFiler using Windows to perform the installation.
