Downloading Data ONTAP

After you install the Data ONTAP system files on the storage subsystem from a UNIX or Windows client, you must install the boot data on the gFiler. NetApp refers to this process as downloading Data ONTAP. The steps you follow for downloading Data ONTAP depend on whether your system is a single node or in a cluster.

  Note
  If the latest Data ONTAP upgrade is available on an HTTP server, you can download and install Data ONTAP to your gFiler without having to mount the gFiler to a UNIX administration host or map a drive to the gFiler using Windows to perform the installation.
