Enabling automatic giveback

When automatic giveback is initiated

Data ONTAP initiates an automatic giveback when one node of a cluster is in takeover mode and the failed node is repaired and reboots. The repaired node boots into Data ONTAP, and the node in takeover mode detects this and initiates a giveback.

Note
This option works only with platforms booted from CompactFlash. To determine whether your storage system boots from CompactFlash, see your Hardware and Service guide.

Enabling or disabling automatic giveback

To enable or disable automatic giveback, complete the following step.

Step	Action
1	Enter the following command: options cf.giveback.auto.enable {off\|on} The `on` value enables automatic giveback. The `off` value disables automatic giveback. This option is Off by default.
