Connecting a third-party SCSI tape backup device

Disable the target SCSI interface on the storage engine by entering the following command at the console:

storage disable adapter adapter_name

Caution
Always disable the interface to avoid possible electrical damage to the adapter or the device.

Connect the cable provided with the tape backup device to the following points of connection:

• The appropriate port on the back panel of your storage engine
• The port on the tape backup device

Tighten each end of the cable.

Terminate any open port on the tape backup device with an active SCSI terminator.

Enable the SCSI interface by entering the following command:

storage enable adapter adapter_name
