Configuring Storage

About this chapter

This chapter describes how Data ONTAP reserves space for storing data in LUNs and provides guidelines for estimating the amount of space you need to store your LUNs. It also describes the methods for creating LUNs, igroups, and LUN maps.

This chapter assumes that your SAN is set up and configured, and that the iSCSI service or FCP service is licensed and enabled. If that is not the case, see Managing the iSCSI service or Managing the FCP service for information about these topics.
