cfmode settings on both cluster nodes
The FCP cfmode settings must be set to the same value for both nodes in a cluster. If the cfmode is not set to the same value, your hosts might not be able to access data stored on the system.
cfmode settings for new systems and upgrades
Partner is the default cfmode setting of a new system with a new installation of Data ONTAP 7.1 or later.
When you upgrade to Data ONTAP 7.1 or later, the cluster saves the cfmode setting from the previous version. For example, if the systems in your cluster were set to standby mode before the upgrade, the cfmode setting remains in standby mode after the upgrade.
