Combined head and disk shelf storage systems

About combined head and disk shelf storage systems  Top

Some storage systems combine one or two system heads and a disk shelf into a single unit. For example, the FAS270c consists of two clustered system heads that share control of a single shelf of fourteen disks.

Primary clustered system head ownership of each disk on the shelf is determined by software-based disk ownership information stored on each individual disk, not by A loop and B loop attachments. You use software-based disk ownership commands to assign each disk to the FAS270 system heads, or any system with a SnapMover license.

For more information on software-based disk ownership assignment, see Software-based disk ownership.
