The procedure you use to download Data ONTAP to clustered storage systems depends on the storage system type and the kind of upgrade--nondisruptive or standard.
For instructions on performing nondisruptive upgrades from the Data ONTAP 7.0 release family (for example, from Data ONTAP 7.0.0.1 to 7.1), see Nondisruptive upgrades from the Data ONTAP 7.0 release family.
For instructions on performing nondisruptive upgrades from the Data ONTAP 6.5 release family (for example, from Data ONTAP 6.5.4 to 7.1), see Nondisruptive upgrades from the Data ONTAP 6.5 release family.
For instructions on performing nondisruptive upgrades within the Data ONTAP 7.1 release family (for example, from Data ONTAP 7.1 to 7.1P1), see Nondisruptive upgrades within release families.
Note
If you are planning to perform a nondisruptive upgrade on a system with FCP or iSCSI hosts, see About nondisruptive cluster upgrades.
You must use standard upgrade procedures when you upgrade to Data ONTAP 7.1from releases earlier than Data ONTAP 6.5.3
For instructions on performing standard upgrades, see the section appropriate to your storage system type:
For more information about which upgrade procedure is most appropriate for your storage systems and upgrade circumstances, see Planning for upgrading clusters.
