Check what you need to do to conclude

After reviewing and addressing issues identified in Chapter 2, Resolving upgrade issues, check the following table to determine whether you need to perform additional procedures to conclude your upgrade.

Procedure	Complete the procedure if...
Entering codes for new licenses	You purchased any new service or protocol that you are starting to use with the upgrade.
Creating a serial number file	You want to have a serial number file. A serial number file makes it easier for technical support to assist you after receiving an AutoSupport e-mail message from your storage system.

Entering codes for new licenses

To enter new license codes, complete the following step from the storage system console.

1	Enter the following command: *license add code* ...** code is the license code that you were given when you purchased the license for a service or protocol. Example In this example, the license code for CIFS is ABCDEFG. license add CIFS ABCDEFG Result The storage system acknowledges each license, as shown in the following example: A cifs site license has been installed. Use "cifs setup" to configure cifs. Run cifs setup to enable cifs.

Creating a serial number file

If the /vol/vol0/etc/serialnum file does not exist on your storage system, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Record your storage system's serial number. You can determine the serial number by entering the `sysconfig` command at the storage system console.
2	From a UNIX or Windows client, use a text editor to create a file called serialnum in /vol/vol0/etc/, and put the storage system's serial number in it.
