Stopping and starting a vFiler unit

Reasons to stop a vFiler unit  Top

You stop a vFiler unit if you need to troubleshoot vFiler unit problems or destroy a vFiler unit.

Note
You cannot stop or start vFiler0.

What it means to stop and start a vFiler unit  Top

After you stop a vFiler unit, the vFiler unit can no longer receive packets from clients.

The stopped state is not persistent across reboots: after you reboot the storage system, the vFiler unit resumes automatically.

You can start a vFiler unit that is in the stopped state; after a vFiler unit starts, it is in running state and can receive packets from clients.

If iSCSI is licensed on the storage system, starting or stopping a vFiler unit starts or stops iSCSI packet processing for that vFiler unit.
