You can enter the snapmirror command from the hosting storage system only, not from a vFiler unit. However, you can use the SnapMirror feature on any qtree or volume on the storage system, whether the qtree or volume is owned by a vFiler unit or the hosting storage system.
The procedure for using the snapmirror command for data on a vFiler unit is the same as that for data on a storage system.
When typing a storage system name in a path name in the /etc/snapmirror.conf file, be sure to use the name of the storage system, not the name of a vFiler unit, even though the path name is for a storage unit in a vFiler unit.
