Disaster Recovery and Data Migration

About this chapter  

This chapter covers two distinct but similar sets of tasks:

• Preparing a disaster-recovery or a backup vFiler unit and activating it if a disaster occurs.
• Moving a vFiler unit (for example, if you are replacing an old storage system with a new one) either by copying data from one physical storage system to another or by using SnapMover® vFiler unit migration between clustered nodes.

  Moving a vFiler unit is called "migration."

  Note
  The procedures in this chapter do not cover migrating or replicating the hosting storage system, vFiler0. The underlying vfiler migrate and vfiler dr commands do not operate on vFiler0.
