iSCSI is a transport protocol that allows standard SCSI block access over a TCP/IP network. When the iSCSI service is licensed and enabled on your filer, that filer can operate as an iSCSI target device.
Data ONTAP 7.1 and later supports multi-connection iSCSI sessions, even across target HBA ports. For details, see the Data ONTAP Block Access Management Guide for iSCSI.
You can use the iSCSI branch of FilerView to perform the following tasks:
View iSCSI status, filer-wide statistics, and portal information
Change the iSCSI node name or target alias of the filer
Enable or disable iSCSI interfaces
View target portal group information
Create or modify user-defined target portal groups to facilitate multi-connection sessions spanning multiple interfaces
Specify which security method should be used by SCSI initiators accessing the filer
View information about portals exported by the filer
View information about initiators that are currently logged in and information about current sessions
