Aggregate Status

The status of an aggregate is displayed as the mount state combined with one or more aggregate states (such as raid_dp, initializing, and so on):

mount_state, state1, state2....

For example:

online,raid4

The mount state is one of the following values:

Mount State

Description

Online

Read and write access to volumes contained in this aggregate is are allowed.

Restricted

Some operations, such as parity reconstruction, are allowed, but data access is not allowed. (Aggregates cannot be restricted if they still contain flexible volumes.)

Offline

No read or write access is allowed. Aggregates that contain flexible volumes cannot be taken offline.

Note: For newly created aggregates, the mount state does not appear until the filer has finished creating and mounting the aggregate.

The aggregate state is one or more of the following values:

Aggregate State

Description

normal

The aggregate is unmirrored and all of its RAID groups are functional.

mirrored

The aggregate is mirrored and all of its RAID groups are functional.

raid4

The aggregate consists of RAID-4 RAID groups.

raid_dp

The aggregate consists of RAID-DP (Double Parity) RAID groups.

raid0

The aggregate consists of RAID-0 (no parity) RAID groups (gFiler and NetCache only).

degraded

The aggregate contains at least one degraded RAID group that is not being reconstructed.

double degraded

The aggregate contains at least one RAID group with double disk failure that is not being reconstructed. (This state is possible if RAID DP protection is enabled for the affected volume.)

mirror degraded

The aggregate is a mirrored aggregate, and one of its plexes is offline or resyncing.

foreign

The disks that the aggregate contains were moved to the current filer from another filer.

Reconstruction xx% complete

At least one RAID group in the aggregate is being reconstructed after experiencing single disk failure.

Double reconstruction xx% complete

At least one RAID group in the aggregate is being reconstructed after experiencing double disk failure. (This state is possible if RAID DP protection is enabled for the affected volume.)

partial

At least one disk was found for the aggregate, but two or more disks are missing.

growing

Disks are in the process of being added to the aggregate.

initializing

The aggregate is in the process of being initialized.

needs check

A WAFL consistency check needs to be performed on the aggregate.

resyncing

The aggregate contains two plexes, and one plex is resynchronizing with the aggregate.

ironing

A WAFL consistency check is being performed on this aggregate.

copying

The aggregate is currently the target aggregate of an active aggr copy operation.

snapmirrored

The aggregate is a snapmirrored replica of another aggregate. This state occurs only if the aggregate contains a traditional volume.

verifying

A RAID mirror verification operation is currently being run on the aggregate.

wafl inconsistent

The aggregate has been marked corrupted. Please contact technical support if you see an aggregate in this state.

invalid

The aggregate contains no volumes and none can be added. Typically, this happens only after an aborted aggregate copy operation.
