Shut Down and Reboot

In the Shut Down and Reboot page you can perform the following procedures.

Halting the filer:

To halt the filer, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Wait field, ensure that there is enough time to alert your CIFS clients about the impending shutdown.

  2. In the Dump Core check box, select the box if you want to dump the system core before the shutdown.

  3. Select Halt (or if part of a cluster, select Halt but No Takeover if you want to halt the filer without it being taken over by its partner).

A dialog box is displayed asking Do you really want to halt <filername>?

  1. If you want to halt the filer, press OK; if not, press Cancel.

  2. If you pressed OK in the dialog box, you can continue to communicate with the filer through the filer console. When you are ready to boot the filer, if the filer displays a mon> prompt, enter b; if the filer displays the ok prompt, enter boot.

Rebooting the filer:

  1. In the Wait field, ensure that there is enough time to alert your CIFS clients about the impending shutdown.

  2. In the Dump Core check box, click the box if you want to dump the system core before the shutdown.

  3. Click the Reboot button.

A dialog box is displayed asking Do you really want to reboot <filer name>?

  4. Click Ok if you want to go ahead and reboot the filer; click Cancel if you don't.
