Configure HTTP

In the Configure HTTP page, you can perform the following procedures:

Setting up HTTP configuration:

You can make the filer an HTTP server by adding HTTP service to it. After you start the HTTP service, clients can display text files under the root directory by using a Web browser.

To set up and enable HTTP, you first need a license for HTTP. If you purchased HTTP with the filer, you entered the HTTP license code during the initial setup of the filer.

To set up HTTP service on your filer, complete the following steps:

  1. If you just purchased HTTP for your filer, in the HTTP License field, enter the license code that came with the HTTP package. Otherwise, this field is already filled in with the code you entered when you ran setup.

  2. In the HTTP Enabled field, select Yes from the drop-down list to enable and start HTTP.

  3. In the HTTP Administration field, select Yes to provide or No to prevent access to the filer's online Help files and other files used by FilerView.

  4. In the HTTP Root Directory field, enter the directory name to be used for the HTTP root directory on this filer.

  5. In the HTTP Timewait Enabled field, select Yes to enable the filer to place HTTP connections that were closed by the client into the TIME_WAIT state for one minute, which is twice the maximum segment lifetime. Select No to disable Timewait.

  6. In the Request Timeout field, enter the minimum amount of time, in seconds, before an idle HTTP connection should time out.

  7. In the Maximum Log File Size field, enter the size of the /etc/log/httpd.log file to a value other than the default of 2147483647 bytes (2 GB minus 1 byte), if you want to limit the size of the log file.

  8. Click Apply when you are finished.

Modifying HTTP configuration:

You can modify the HTTP configuration at any time; all changes take effect after saving the changes.

To modify HTTP service on your filer, complete the following steps:

  1. Make the necessary changes in the appropriate fields.

  2. Click Apply to save the changes you made.
