Manage HTTP Host Prefixes |
The Manage HTTP Host Prefixes page enables you to configure your filer to host several IP addresses using only one physical interface. This process is called virtual hosting and is useful, for example, if an Internet provider wants to host several Web sites but has only one physical interface.
When virtual hosting is enabled, an HTTP server uses the destination IP address of an incoming HTTP request to find the directory that contains the HTTP pages belonging to the virtual host.
To enable virtual hosting, you must set up virtual hosting by editing the /etc/httpd.hostprefixes file, which includes mapping the virtual host address to the virtual host interface.
