Configure Network |
The Configure Network page enables you to set the network configuration, including routing, default gateway, and other networking parameters that determine how the filer handles network traffic.
There are several fields that can be configured when setting up networking. The following is a list of those fields and their descriptions.
Enables or disables the routed daemon.
If routed is enabled, the filer runs a simple routing daemon to manage the selection of the default gateway for IP network routing. This daemon listens for Routing Information Protocol (RIP) packets being exchanged between routers on the network to determine which routers are alive. From the routers that are alive, the daemon selects the one with the highest preference to use as the filer's default router.
However, the filer does not rely on the routed daemon to construct the routing table. The function of the filer's routed daemon is to check the status of the default router.
The default value for this field is Yes (routed enabled).
Note: The routed daemon is disabled by default and cannot be changed when MultiStore is licensed on your filer. The routed daemon is not supported with vFiler units.
Specifies the default gateway IP address to be used for this filer.
Enables the filer to discover and use the largest packet size that the filer can send to another host without fragmenting a packet. This means that the filer does not have to limit itself to sending many small packets, which takes more time and resources than sending fewer large packets.
By default, the MTU (maximum transfer unit) is 4,352 on an FDDI interface, 1,500 on an Ethernet interface, and 9,188 on an ATM interface.
Specifies the flow control type, which can be one of the following:
None (no flow control)
Receive (only receive flow control frames)
Send (only send flow control frames)
Full (send and receive flow control frames)
Specifies whether the filer accepts or refuses packets that are addressed to it, even if that packet came in on the wrong interface.
Yes causes the filer to accept any packet that is addressed to it, even if that packet came in on the wrong interface.
No causes the filer to refuse packets that come in on the wrong interface.
If you are concerned about security, you should select No.
Specifies whether FTPD is enabled on the filer.
The default value for this field is No.
Specifies whether RSH is enabled on the filer.
The default value for this field is Yes.
Specifies whether Telnet is enabled on the filer.
The default value for this field is Yes.
