Volume Properties

The Volume Properties page displays the following information about the selected volume:

Heading

Description

Name

Name of the volume.

Type

Flexible or Traditional. Indicates whether the properties shown are for a flexible volume or a traditional volume.

Containing Aggregate

Flexible volumes only. The aggregate that contains the volume. An aggregate can contain multiple flexible volumes, so different flexible volumes can have the same containing aggregate.

Status

Indicates whether the volume is online, offline, or restricted and the current state.

RAID Size

Traditional volumes only. Number of disks per RAID group. Any disks you add will be organized into RAID groups of this size.

Used Capacity

Amount of storage currently used.

% Used

Percentage of the total storage currently in use.

Language

Language that you want to use on this volume.

Total Capacity

Total storage for the aggregate or traditional volume.

Total Size

Flexible volumes only. The total size of the volume should include space for the snapshot reserve and file system overhead in addition to the usable space. By default, the snapshot reserve is 20% of the volume. The filer reserves approximately 10% of the total disk space for overhead.

Space Guarantee

Flexible volumes only. Volume, File, or None. Determines which entities are guaranteed to have successful writes when uncommitted space in an aggregate is exhausted.

Checksums

Traditional volumes only. Type of checksum currently being used (zoned or block).

Number of Disks

Traditional volumes only. Number of disks currently assigned.

Number of Files

Number of files currently stored.

Max Directory Size

Maximum size you want to allow for a directory file.

Max. Files

Maximum number of files that can be stored.

Double Parity?

Traditional volumes only. If this field is checked, the aggregate or traditional volume consists of RAID-DP (double parity) RAID groups.

Root Volume?

If this field is checked, the volume is a root volume. The current root volume cannot be taken offline.

Minimal Read Ahead?

Indicates whether minimal read ahead is enabled. If minimal read ahead is not enabled, the volume is set to aggressive read ahead.

Update Access Time?

Indicates whether to update the access time on an inode when the file is read.

Create Unicode?

Indicates whether all new directories on this volume will be created in Unicode format.

Convert Unicode?

Indicates whether all existing directories on this volume will be converted to Unicode format.

Note: To view the properties of a different volume, select a different volume from the drop-down list box, then click View.
