Resolving port conflicts

Reconfiguring the RMI port

About the RMI port  Top

Remote method invocation (RMI) is a protocol used for communication between remote Java objects.

The ports ContentDirector uses for RMI are assigned to 1099 by default. Other applications might also bind to port 1099, causing port conflicts. MS Outlook is one example of this. If port 1099 is bound by another application at the time of the ContentDirector installation process, the conflict is resolved silently by the installation utility. If a port conflict arises after installation, follow the instructions below to resolve it.

Reconfiguring the RMI port  Top

Two scripts are available for reconfiguring the RMI port.
