Setting up content distribution resources

Creating destination groups

What destination groups are  Top

A destination group is a collection of one or more destinations that receive content from the same source in ContentDirector. All content distribution in ContentDirector must use destination groups.

Who can create destination groups  Top

Any administrator can create destination groups, and regular users can also create them if their user group rights permit it.

When to create destination groups  Top

Although it is more efficient to create your destination groups before creating jobs, it is not required. If you create a job for a new combination of destinations that is not yet designated as a destination group, ContentDirector prompts you to create a new destination group.

Destination groups as part of your virtual interface  Top

As with user rights, destination groups allow you to map your resources to a customized virtual interface. Because destination groups are purely logical and do not need to map to the physical network, they are completely flexible. A destination group can correspond to any group of destinations.
