About assignments and assignment types  Top

Assignments define the specific tasks that jobs perform. Each job runs a sequence of assignments that represents sequential phases of content distribution. See the following table for definitions.

Retrieving the assignment type  Top

Use the GetAssignmentTypeID() method of the CDAssignment class to retrieve the assignment type for any assignment. See com.netapp.contentdirector.api.jdk.CdObjects > CdAssignment > getAssignmentTypeId in the API Javadoc.

Commonly used assignment types  Top

A job typically has the assignment type of publish. If a user aborts a job before it is completed, the assignment type is abort. The following table contains the five assignment types you see through the API. For more information about replicate and repush, see the ContentDirector 2.0 Administration Guide.
