Taking a look around the user interface

About looking around the user interface  Top

Although there is a basic split between ContentReporter administration and reporting functions, you, as a reporting user, can have a wide or limited range of access to report screens and functions. This access is based on the way your user account has been setup by the system administrator. For example, if you are a reporting user with administrative privileges, you will see all screens when you start the product and have access to all features and controls. If, on the other hand, you are a reporting user with limited privileges, you might only be able to view a few reports and will not see any of the administrative or control-feature screens. As a general rule, if you are not the administrator of a specific ContentReporter server, then find the system administrator to learn the specifics of your user account.

Checking out the reporting user's home page  Top

The following screen shows you the reporting user's home page. For reporting users without administrative privileges, the default start page is the Report Results page. This tab presents a list of all the reports you have access to view. You might or might have access to the three other tabs displayed.

What happens if you don't have access to a component?  Top

If you don't have access to a screen, dialog box, or report component, an error message is displayed. An example of an error message is displayed in the screen below. The message tells you to see your ContentReporter system administrator to get access to the Scheduled Events page. If you don't have access to a page, you cannot use any of the controls on the page or view the list of scheduled reports.
