Adding user groups and setting user group permissions

About setting group permissions  Top

When you use the LDAP or NTLM methods of authentication, you can only set permissions on a group level. You cannot set permissions for individual users with LDAP or NTLM. When you use the ContentReporter Local authentication, you can set permissions on both the group level and the user level. If you set permissions or security settings on the group level, the permissions or security settings affect all users in the group. For example, if you take away all Administration privileges from the Guest group, no user in the Guest group can have Administration privileges.

Note
Adding and deleting groups to set permissions in ContentReporter for LDAP or NTLM authentication only adds or deletes them from the ContentReporter database. These actions have no effect on your organization's LDAP or NTLM database.

Although you cannot add new Local user groups, you can modify the permissions of the three default Local user groups. To learn more about modifying an existing group's permissions, see Modifying user and user group permissions.
