Configuring LDAP and NTLM authentication

About authentication  Top

The ContentReporter server authenticates a username-password combination each time a user logs in. ContentReporter gives you the ability to simultaneously use its own built-in "Local" authentication, and either a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server or an NT LAN Manager (NTLM) to authenticate users. If you configure ContentReporter for LDAP or NTLM authentication, users will be able to log into ContentReporter with their account, and you will be able to set permissions for these users on a group level. You can only set permissions for existing groups in your LDAP or NTLM database. You cannot set permissions for individual users in your LDAP or NTLM database.

Caution
When you successfully configure ContentReporter for LDAP or NTLM authentication, all users in your organization's LDAP or NTLM database initially have full permissions, including Administration permissions, by default. To learn more about configuring permissions for groups, see Adding user groups and setting user group permissions.
