Configuring ContentReporter server logging

About ContentReporter logging  Top

The ContentReporter server maintains a log file that contains a record of its activity. If you have a problem processing log files or generating reports, you might be able to discover the cause of the problem by examining the ContentReporter log file. The ContentReporter server begins generating a new date/time-stamped log file each time it starts, and each time the log file reaches its maximum file size. The ContentReporter server stores its own log files in the ContentReporter server machine folder:

..\Network Appliance\ContentReporter\jakarta-tomcat\webapps\ContentReporter\logs\

You can specify the log file size (the default size is 10.24 MB) at which ContentReporter begins generating a new log file, and the level of information you want the ContentReporter server to record in the log file. You configure ContentReporter logging on the Administration Logging tab.

To learn about examining the ContentReporter server log file, see Examining the ContentReporter server log file.

You can select one of five levels of information you want the ContentReporter server to record in its log file. To generate log files with the most comprehensive information about ContentReporter, select "Debug." To generate log files with the least comprehensive information about ContentReporter, select "Terminal." Each line of the ContentReporter server log file has a "cr-level" field value (1 - 5) that corresponds to one of the five logging levels. Each logging level includes information recorded in any less comprehensive levels. For example, the "Debug" level includes information recorded in the other four levels.
