Decru Management Console Installer

DataFort management requires that specified smart cards from the provided set be inserted into the smart card reader installed on the Management Station. The DataFort package includes the items necessary to set up the Management Station.

Management Station Requirements

The Management Station must be a Windows PC with a CD drive and USB port. (If no USB port is available on the computer that will be used to manage the DataFort, a serial smart card reader is available from Decru.) The following lists system requirements and supported software for the Management Station.

Management Station System Requirements

The Management Station requires one of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional/Server
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (SP6a or greater)

    With any of these operating systems, DataFort WebUI requires Internet Explorer version 6.0 (SP1 recommended) or greater and either Microsoft JVM or Sun JRE 1.5.0_06. The Decru Management Console installer installs Sun JRE 1.5.0_06.

Management Station Settings

The Management Station should be current on security patches and have unnecessary services disabled or removed. Logons should be limited to authorized administrators, with no remote management enabled. The Management Station should not be used to browse untrusted websites or run unverified code.

  • It is recommended that the “Check for publisher's certificate revocation” box be UNCHECKED in the Internet Explorer Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security menu.
  • For password security, it is good practice not to set Internet Explorer to auto-fill or cache usernames and passwords.

Installing the Decru Management Console

To install the necessary driver from this CD:

  1. Start the installer from this CD, by clicking the installer link at the bottom of this page. When prompted by the File Download screen to run or save the file, click the Run button to run the installer.
  2. The installer will prompt for the model number of the smart card reader. This can be found by looking at the bottom of the smart card reader (for example, M/N: GemPCUSB-SL).
  3. When prompted, connect the smart card reader to the Management Station.
  4. Choose Yes when prompted to reboot the PC.

Note: This installer updates the configuration of the Sun JVM installation. If you install Sun JVM at a later time, it could cause the WebUI to stop functioning. To avoid this possibility, run the Decru Management Console installer again after you install Sun JVM.
