Chapter 11

Transparent Proxying

About this chapter  Top

This chapter discusses the NetCache transparent proxy feature. When transparent proxying is deployed, a switch or router redirects client requests to a proxy-cache server (such as a appliance). This chapter provides information to aid you in planning for transparent proxying. For a conceptual overview of transparent proxying, see the Deployment Guide.

Clarification of terms  Top

This chapter uses the terms client-side traffic and server-side traffic. Client-side traffic flows from the client to NetCache and from NetCache to the client. Server-side traffic flows from NetCache to the origin server and from the origin server to NetCache.
